With so many questions and misinformation about the criminal justice reform bill that was passed, State Representative West had decided to host a townhall. State Representative Maurice West was joined by Chairman Justin Slaughter (Chair, Judicial-Criminal Committee) along with their co-hosts: NAACP-Rockford Branch and Women's March Rockford as they discussed the facts about the Criminal Justice Reform Package that passed in the General Assembly. The townhall offered a presentation of the package that is focused on police reform, sentencing and prison reform, the elimination of cash bail, and violence reduction. The virtual event was facilitated as questions were asked from the audience and answered by State Representative Maurice West and Chairman Justin Slaughter.
