ROCKFORD, Ill. – State Rep. Maurice West II, D-Rockford, issued the following statement in the wake of yesterday’s tragedy in Rockford:
“I am thankful for the hard work and service that our local law enforcement provides to the people of this community each and every day. Today is a solemn day for many within our region, as we have lost someone who dedicated his life to working to protect us. Deputy Jake Keltner will never be forgotten, and I know that he and his family will be in the thoughts and prayers of all of us in Rockford. It is because of people like Jake Keltner, and the colleagues he served with, that we are able to go home to our families safely every day. Yesterday was a reminder that we can never, ever, take this privilege for granted.”
